BIO
Tryg Strand is a singer-songwriter from Columbia Valley, BC, known for a raw, roots-driven sound that blends rock, blues, country and folk. His music is built on honest storytelling, gritty guitar work and memorable, hook-driven melodies.
After a high-level hockey career that took him to the University of Guelph and then professional play in Sweden, Strand transitioned to music full time. He now brings the same discipline and intensity from sport into his work as a writer and performer, steadily building momentum through live shows and festivals across Western Canada with his band (Tryg Strand & The Band).
While at the University of Guelph, Strand pursued a minor in International Development — an experience that broadened his perspective and sparked a lasting interest in how communities support one another. Today, that mindset shapes how he approaches his career: bringing people together through music while supporting initiatives that strengthen communities and create meaningful, lasting impact. Rooted in small-town values and a belief in showing up for others, Strand is committed to using his platform to make a difference where it matters most.
