"After more than 20 years covering local stories, I’ve seen firsthand how persistent food insecurity remains in our communities. Food is one of life’s most basic needs. In a fabulous world-class city like ours, no one should go hungry. I first learned about Second Harvest years ago while reporting on how they manage to rescue surplus food and redirect it to people who need it most. I was blown away by their powerful, practical solution — tackling food waste and hunger at the same time. What really stands out is the scale of the operation- they’ve built a vast network of partners to make their mission possible. I’m very proud to support Second Harvest and their enormous undertaking. They are serving up solutions to what is a very real crisis here in Canada."
