Tyler Heppell (Potato Ty) is a fifth-generation farmer and the creator of Ugly Potato Day. After working in sales at a Fortune 500 company, he returned to his family’s farm in search of more purpose — where he quickly saw how broken the food distribution system can be, with perfectly good produce going to waste while communities struggle to access fresh food.
That realization led him to launch Ugly Potato Day, a growing food redistribution initiative that rescues surplus produce and gives it away for free to thousands of families.
Today, Tyler shares his journey and mission with an audience of over 2 million followers across platforms, using his voice to raise awareness around agriculture, reduce food waste and help build a more efficient and equitable food system.
