Liam Hickey

BIO

Liam Hickey is one of Canada’s most accomplished multi-sport Paralympians, representing the country in both wheelchair basketball and para ice hockey. 

He was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, and has competed for Team Canada in wheelchair basketball at the 2016 Paralympic Games before focusing on para ice hockey, where he has become a key forward for the national team. Liam has earned multiple international medals, including Paralympic silver medals and world championship success with Canada’s para hockey squad after playing in the 2018, 2022 and 2026 Winter Paralympic Games. 

Off the ice, he is a strong advocate for adaptive sport development in Newfoundland and Labrador and was awarded the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador. Liam continues to inspire the next generation of athletes through leadership and community involvement while training for the next Winter Paralympic Games.
