After a brief illness, Ruth Hand passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2026 in her 93rd year. She was the beloved wife of John, much-loved mother of Glenn (Kimberley Briggs) and proud grandmother of Aidan and Charlotte. Ruth was born on February 3, 1933 in Woodville, Ontario, the daughter of Robert and Jean Morrow. She was the youngest of seven siblings, Earl, Allister, Claire, Grant, Audrey, and Anna. Ruth enjoyed a successful 30-year career at Imperial Oil Limited, retiring in 1991. Glenview Presbyterian Church was always an important part of Ruth’s life where she was an active participant in the Ceilidh Club, assisted with the Sunday School, and attended regularly with her family.

In her later years, Ruth took up jewellery-making and was renowned for her handmade jewellery sales at Delmanor Northtown. She proudly donated the proceeds of each sale to Second Harvest, with over $8,000 raised for the charity to date. Earlier this year, she was thrilled to be asked to tour Second Harvest’s facility in Etobicoke and was pleased to see how her hard work was a benefitting the community.
